MCI Center Information
The MCI Center is located in Washington, D.C. in the midst of so much patriotism and inspiration. Each year, local residents and distant travelers come together to enjoy a variety of entertainment, including sports, entertainment and other specialized events showcasing local sports and talents. The MCI Center is the home of the NBA franchise, Washington Wizards. Fellow tenants include the WNBA's Mystics and a lot of other big name entertainment, such as concerts and family shows.
MCI Center's SACO Smart Vision System is the largest video scoreboard, of it's kind, to ever be installed in an arena. The system features an LED video system, which allows for spectacular brightness and clarity. It's 500 line resolution is comparable to that of a true television image. LED systems are compiled of pixels that come together to create video images directly onto the scoreboard. MCI's SACO Smart Vision system measures 12 feet by 16 feet.
Fans who want to enjoy the action, but demand comfort will find luxury suites situated only 19 rows from the playing surface. Each suite features a variety of fan amenities, including a remote control television and convenient access to any event. In addition, suite customers may order from the exclusive Capital Club Restaurant, which is catered by the award winning Levy Restaurants. All in all, there are 110 suites located at the MCI Center, along with 4 executive suites.
Among the amenities that fans will find at the MCI Center are two video walls, which are located on the main concourse with two situated just inside the entrance. The video walls are constructed of 40" cubes or 27" monitors and are stacked similar to the design of a tic-tac-toe board. These walls have the ability to cover one large image using all nine cubes or several smaller videos utilizing various smaller screens. During each event, the video walls present a half hour feature of upcoming events, a historical profile of memorable moments in sports, entertainment and politics as they relate to the MCI Center and Washington, D.C.
Fan comfort is an utmost concern at the MCI Center, as is that of the players - both home and visiting. The facility features dressing and locker rooms for both sports and entertainment performers to use prior to showtime. Locker room areas, which are used for sporting events, include training facilities and a steam room, a lounge and dressing rooms.
The MCI Center is located downtown and is one of the nation's newest, most innovative multi-purpose facilities in existence. With a seating capacity of 20,000, there is ample space for everyone to grab a seat at any one of the many events held annually. The facility is located on 601 F Street, NW and is conveniently located to many downtown hotels and accommodations.
